Roti In The Jungle: A River Trip Down Sg Sarawak Kanan

posted by Francis Ho

I knew it was going be good trip when 4 buses arrived at the take-out point at Wind Cave just as we were about to leave for Krokong to put-in; unloading nearly 200 excited young college girls from UITM who were there for a picnic. I nearly wanted to eject my fellow passengers in lieu of these girls whom all wanted to take photographs with FH2o much to the chagrin and jealousy of Robin & Co! There's no substitution for natural charisma and confidence kiddo!

Reluctantly we left for Krokong with the girls promising that they’ll be waiting for us! For once I was prepared to give up kayaking and just while my day away with them at Wind Cave!

We arrived at Krokong and after some instructions we were ready to “crock and roll”! It had not rained for the past 2 days and the water was clear and as we got underway, Roti exclaimed that he had found his true love or love at first sight or something like that. I thought he meant the girls until I realised that he was talking about kayaking down the river! What's with this guy?

Before too long Robin was similarly affected; rambling away and muttering under his own breathe about the limestone walls with “mystical quality” while I was still thinking about the girls.

We stopped for a picnic break and Roti (bless his soul) whipped out his special surprise treat for us – his home cooked chicken curry! It was the most delicious curry that Robin and I had ever tasted and it was just then that Roti told us that his curry stall would be ready for business in April. If they taste anything like this; we are certain that it would be a 'crocking' success. Duly fortified we paddled on with more ramblings from Robin about mystical stones as he took video while Azmi paddled. The birdy is turning mystic!

We came across a vine with a ‘hang-man’ noose and Roti tried unsuccessfully to reach it from our kayak, falling into the waters with sadistic laughters from Robin and Azmi. Not one to give up Roti tried again - this time successfully from the shallow river bed.

Due to the lack of rainfall over the past few days the water levels were a little low at certain sections and we had get out and drag our boats. As usual those with heavy butts just sit in the kayaks.

After about 3 hours we heard female laughters and we quickened our pace; and as we rounded the bend of the river the sight of 200 full blooded females was more than these 4 full blooded kayakers could bear! I’d had to jumped into the waters to cool down while Robin and Azmi had to be ‘splashed down’! Girls just wanna have fun and we obliged by taking them for joy rides – 2 at a time. Alas all good things must come to an end as Robin has a flight to catch and we have to say goodbye to the girls.

The other guys must be doing something wrong as the gals were asking for my handphone number instead of theirs! Heehee

I'd better stopped bragging. Look at the pictures and book your paddle with me this weekend! I can’t promise anything about the 200 girls though! But one can always live in hope!

Aaahh... finally got the key answer why Robin called it "the best kayaking trip", no wonder lah... 200 girls!!!

Whoaaa... Unker, 2 thumbs up for you... so how many phone numbers did you collect and how many girls already gave a call to you, madamme no jealous kah? hehehe ;)
flaneur - huh! like i said; one can always live in hope!

selba - phone numbers? for me to know n for u to speculate! heehee
I've yet to come across a female who's not jealous! ;)
Limestone is nice, but I think it's the girls who have the "mystical" qualities.
Yes, a wonderful trip..

especially when you get to see the real crocs!!!!!

You can see the pics at my blog!!
panda - I agree with you but I don't know what's with the 2R's - Roti and Robin!!

robin - oh uh! Robin's up to some mischief again!
FH2o, I remember you saying that you’ll let the others blog about the trip and your ‘we’ll see how’ attitude. Well, I guess we are seeing ‘how’ now. All two hundred plus of them.
You aren’t about to dodge this and say the girls made you do it are you? Robin did say it was the best trip he’d ever had but I didn’t expect you to come across a host of mermaids. And I’m not quite sure plunging into the cold water worked as well as a cold shower coz you guys do know how to make the ladies happy. Well, you did have the right stuff to get things going. And I'm sure things will be well gone if Robin didn't have to leave that day itself. Sigh*

I have a lot to say but that would just make a big mess here. Besides, I know you have loads more pictures so keep’em coming.

Robin, did you really see the real crocks? Or were you one of them? ;)
hi Agus, read unker's blog and then come over to mine to see the shy buaya and the real buaya..
