Unwelcomed Visitor

Boy! I'm tired!



I had spent the good part of the evening, trying unsuccessfully, to find and evict this critter from our house. Apparently it sneaked into the house in the afternooon and mdm saw it went inside my kayaking stuff store and she promptly closed the door after it. That's her story anyway as after laboriously and with great trepidations, unloading almost every single item from the store, the nearly 2 feet (60cm) long lizard is still nowhere to be found. *sigh*



As you can imagine everyone in the house is unhappy about this unwelcomed visitor although I'm not that uptight over the situation as I'm sure it would leave the house on its on accord - eventually. I had sent in our dogs to try so sniff it out but to no avail.



So folks, any brilliant suggestions or bright ideas on what I can do before I get evicted from the house as well?



Ah! The joys and pleasures of living so close to nature ...

What do they eat? insects? or meat? why don't you try to trick it to come out from the hiding with food, it must be hungry by now right?

selba - they eat insects and rotting meat and they do have sharp teeth and strong jaws ... so you can imagine what it can do if cornered!
As with most wild creatures they generally do not attack unless provoked. And I'm not gonna provoke it for sure!

well, if you really did unload everything and it's nowhere to be seen then it's prolly gone already.

it's a biawak and you may try luring it out with raw meat, dog food or chicken eggs.

But yeah, biawak is a rare sight and always delightful to see one from far. Any nearer, like sitting with me in a kayak, I would have freaked out too and probably jumped into the water, only to discover more biawak infesting the water... Yikes!
The thought gives me the shudders.

Especially poisonous ones like the gila monster. Do we have them here?

A good way to deal with the problem is get our cats and put them into the room for a while. The Cats seem to be able to deal with lizards very well, from my experience.

BTW, my cats in the Kuching house is available for rental.. speak to Nina..

My neighbour at both left and right sweared that their house are visited by a python... and one day I saw it just glide past my fence without stopping.. and already both Gucci and Tiffi is barking like crazy at it.

Since yo lizzy so big 2 ft yah is it an iguana ? Use a wire mouse trap and make your own bigger one and put a bait inside for lizzy to eat. Let me know if it works.
