Bako by Kayak: From Alan & Megan

posted by Francis Ho

When I went to Bako Fishing Village to pick Alan and Megan up in the evening, there were HUGE smiles on their faces. Megan said that it was an absolutely perfect day and to Alan the following swells and the incoming tide on the paddle back was the perfect finishing touch to a brilliant day.

Bako National Park was nothing they had ever seen in South Africa and Alan said that they must have explored every nooks and corners of the coastline. As true explorers they even went upstream to some of the smaller tributaries that I had not been to! And to prove that they “had been there and done that”, they are kind enough to share these brilliant photos they took yesterday, which I had compiled, with you folks.

They are so happy with their trip they want to share these with everyone else. Aren't these photos (like Alan and Megan) amazing?

“Please use them for your brochures!”

Nice folks aren’t they?

Wow. Great pictures. That first one is really wonderful, but they all give one a good feeling for the beauty and wilderness of the place.
Bako National Park..
*ahem*
The last time (the one & only time) I went there was way back in .. 1991, during my secondary school days :)

nice pics! i like :)

haven't been to bako in ages - perhaps kayaking there would be a fun way to do it!
panda - the first pic is a classic! fantastic photo :) Brilliant shot Alan!

chen - about time u re-visit? ;)

laksa - kayaking to Bako is strictly NOT for beginners as it's considered as 'Sea Kayaking'.
u've got to 'pass' my assessment first before I'll take u out there! if the weather turns bad suddenly (as it can and will) one'll be swept out to the South China Sea! Then no more laksa or curry liaow! :(
I recognise some of those places in the photos. Probably more fun kayaking there than hiking. :-)
unker,
I will definitely re-visit the place again in the future, provided I can find kaki to go together with me :)
Very nice! How far is this place from Kuching?
I am from sarawak, and I have never been to Bako before !! What a sad case.. ahhaa...

fullmoon - *ahem* look who's talking? i thought u don't wanna do the sea!
lots of little beaches that would make great campsites. :)

but Laos beacons!
well... erm.. the place looks better from a kayak than the boat ride we took what. Btw, going to Johor tomolo to explore a river.
