Durian Flowers
posted by Francis Ho
If you can't stand eating (or smelling) the fruits of the durian trees, you may want to consider to try eating the flowers instead (they do not smell). I'm not kidding. En Nee
The flowers are collected from the grounds after they had fallen down from the trees and they do not keep and have to be eaten on the same day. They oxidise very quickly, and even when kept in the fridge they do not last for more than a few days. But then again, can you wait that long!
They can be eaten as a salad or stir fry like vegetables. With a 'crunchy' texture like taugeh (bean sprouts) they are absolutely delicious and goes well with plain rice. I'm sure these organic flowers are nutritious as well. Any more questions about durians anyone?

Interesting. Looks like nangka (jackfruit) in strips. Thanks for pictures. First time I'm seeing durian flowers not having a durian tree in my yard. ;)
Eating the durian flowers???? Definately a first for me. I know of tapai and tuak from coconut flowers, banana flowers but not durian. Will it last the journey via post?
Whoaaa... durian flowers? interesting... should try it someday...
I know that my old maid used to boiled the seed of durians and then eat it, same as the jackfruits seeds.

Wait and see how many go off the rails with my comment to prove this! hahahaha
