Finding Felix

posted by Francis Ho

Felix Ang always reminds me of David Carradine especially the character in the famous seventies TV series ‘Kung Fu’ – in other words a cool cat who exudes an air of tempered calm and mystery. Delving into the intellects of the mind, Felix would either comes across as an eccentric, mystic or an artistic philosopher even though his philosophy and self invented ‘nui-kung’ exercise of “harmonergy” (harmony-energy) is not for the sloth of mind or imagination. He is quite a character and would invoke a reaction from anyone - you cannot be indifferent with Felix, unless you're brain-dead that is.

Having known him for the past 5 over years now, I can say that Felix is quite genuine and like an obscure gourmet dish; he is an acquired taste! A paradox who feels deeply about spirituality; while indulging in the sensuality of the flesh yet denying the arousal of such - you’ll have to meet him to understand what I’m saying. Even if you don't understand him, I think you would like him as a person.

He must be on to something while the rest of us may be laughing or wondering as he looks impossibly young at 61! And on last Tuesday night we were invited to his birthday celebration at a vegetarian restaurant and topping off the evening with drinks and a ‘tropicana’ inspired nutty cake at his bohemian house decorated with art pieces and sculptures done by him over the years.

Thanks Felix for your warmth and friendship; and being the special person that you are. You make this world a whole lot more colourful and wonderful.

You mean that floral display is actually a cake? At first I thought it was a floral centerpiece!!
Besides you, he is another 'eccentric' person i have met in Kuching so far.
